HISTORY

Technological University of America (TUA) was founded in 2007 in Coconut Creek, Florida, United States of America (USA), by Eng. Roger Amuruz, a business man with great vision of higher education in Peru. The University traces its roots to the Universidad Technologica Del Peru (UTP), which was also founded by Eng. Roger Amuruz in 1997 in Lima, Peru. The organizing committee of the TUA since its initiation were led by Eng. Roger Amuruz Gallegos, Mgr Cesar Barrantes, current Executive Vice President and Dr. Kia Makki, current Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs of TUA, who have managed to successfully initiate the fate of the University. TUA was approved by the Commission for Independent Education to operate as a postsecondary institution in the State of Florida on January 28 th , 2010.

TUA's goal is to meet the challenges facing our economy, humanity, grow and create opportunities for Florida and the global economy, and enhance student learning for success in a changing world.

TUA's three major goals which form its foundation are:

  1. Launching tomorrow's leaders by enhancing student success with careers in a dynamic global society, as well as fostering intellectual, professional and personal development for lifelong learning.
  2. Promoting discovery with delivery by conducting field-defining research with breakthrough outcomes and catalyzing research-based economic development and entrepreneurship.
  3. Meeting global challenges by enhancing TUA's presence and impact in addressing grand challenges of our economy and humanity.

TUA recognizes the importance of a quality education, particularly in the rapidly growing South Florida Region. Here, the challenges facing an urban, diversified community depend heavily on technical and innovative solutions to resolve the problems in our infrastructure. TUA strives to serve the educational needs of Florida, the nation, and the international community.

There are three focus areas in our plan: First, Launching Tomorrow's Leaders; second, Discovery with Delivery; and third, Meeting Global Challenges. Our plan promotes excellence in student learning, experiences, and outcomes. It focuses on student success, higher graduation and retention rates, and diversity among students, faculty, and staff. Our plan focuses on moving discoveries out of the laboratories so they can benefit people, society, and the economy. Our plan will develop students with the global credentials they need for success and leadership in the 21st century. At TUA students do not spend most of their time listening to lectures but also they spend considerable amount of time in the labs, where they can apply what was taught in their classrooms and will be able to get a hands-on experience with the equipments that are similar to what are being used in industry.

VISION

The vision of TUA is to be a nationally and internationally prominent university recognized for its academic excellence, integrity, creative activity, and public service.

The mission of TUA is to advance the educational experience and develop highly competent and involved individuals to serve and lead in a diverse global society.
