Dr. Kia Makki received his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of California , Davis , and two M.S. degrees from The Ohio State University and West Coast University . He is currently the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at the Technological University of America (TUA). Previously, he was a Lucent Technology Professor with tenure and he had also been the Associate Dean of the College of Engineering and Computing and the Co-Director of the Telecommunications and Information Technology Institute (IT2) at the Florida International University. Before that, he was a tenured faculty with an O'Krepki Chair Professorship at the University of Louisiana, Lafayette, the Director of the Center For Telecommunications Studies, and the Co-Director of the NOMAD and Advanced Computer Laboratory which was partially funded by NSF and NASA. His technical interests include mobile and wireless communication networks, ad-hoc networks, sensor networks, network security and privacy, routing & multicasting and optical telecommunications. He has numerous publications in refereed Journals and conferences and his work has been extensively cited in books and papers. Dr. Makki has been the Editor-In-Chief, Journal of Communications (JCM), Academy Publisher , Associate- Editor-In-Chief , Journal of Networks, Associate Editor, Editorial Board Member, Guest Editor of several other International Journals including Editorial Board Member of several telecommunication journals. Dr. Makki has been involved in numerous conferences as a Steering Committee Member, General Chair, Program Chair, Program Vice-Chair and Program Committee Members. His current professional activities include Executive General Chair of IEEE Globecom2010, Standing Committee of IEEE INFOCOM, Steering Committee Member of the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks, and Steering Committee Member of the ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge Management. He has been the Co-General Chair of NSF International Workshop on Mobile and Wireless Network Security 2006 and Technical Program Co-Chair of Int Conference on Information Society 2006. He has also been Technical Program Co-Chair of the IEEE INFOCOM 2005 conference. He has received Outstanding Achievements Awards from the IEEE International Conference on Computer Communications and Networks, and ACM conferences for his technical contributions. He is also a Co-Author of several well received books in Mobile and Wireless Networks and Network security and Privacy.
